What Is Included In The Pre-Ride Check?Updated 3 months ago

To ensure that your bike is functioning properly, safe to ride, and ready for your next adventure you will want to adopt some general bike maintenance habits. This will help catch potential issues before they develop into safety hazards.

Start by doing a general walk-around to ensure that components are properly tightened and secure. These components include but are not limited to the handlebar and handlebar accessories, adjustable stem (if you have one), pedals, fenders, saddle, lights, and battery. If you come across anything loose, make necessary adjustments with any bike multitool, or the tools supplied with every Ariel Rider Bike purchase.

Next, focus your attention on the wheels. Before each ride check the tire pressure and ensure they are inflated to the recommended PSI. You can find the recommended PSI on the sidewall of any tire. This is the easiest way to prevent a flat tire. Additionally, inspect the tire for any punctures or cuts that may compromise the structural integrity of the tire. Lastly, take the opportunity to ensure your thru-axles and quick-release levers (if you have them) are properly tightened.

Inspect the chain, gears, and derailleur. Keeping your chain lubricated and the gears clean will ensure that your bike shifts smoothly and the drivetrain (made up of the front chain ring, chain, rear cassette, and derailleur) lasts longer. Please use a bicycle-specific chain lubricant when lubricating your chain.

Squeeze your front and rear brake levers to ensure the brakes engage properly and smoothly.
