Grizzly 72v PPB - Before and After Every RideUpdated 2 days ago
The 72V Grizzly is our most powerful performance platform. To ensure your bike remains safe and reliable, complete the following inspection procedure before and after every ride. Make this routine automatic and never skip a step.
Before Every Ride: 7-Point Inspection
- Power Off & Walk Around: Inspect the frame and components for impact marks, loose or missing hardware, cracks, fluid leaks, hot areas, rubbed wiring, or damaged safety labels.
- Tires & Wheels: Check tire pressures with a reliable gauge. Inspect the full tread and sidewall circumference for cuts, bulges, exposed casing, embedded objects, or uneven wear. Verify rims are free of dents and squeeze paired spokes to ensure uniform tension.
- Brake System: Verify front and rear levers feel firm and return without sticking. Inspect lines, calipers, and rotors for fluid leaks or damage. Confirm each brake lever cuts motor power during a slow-speed test.
- Steering & Suspension: Hold the front brake and rock the bike back and forth to check for clicking or play in the headset, fork, stem, or axles. Turn handlebars fully left and right to ensure cables do not pinch or pull the throttle. Inspect fork stanchions and rear shock for fluid leaks.
- Batteries & Electrical System: Ensure both battery packs are cool, dry, locked in place, and undamaged. Confirm charge port covers are closed. Verify all wiring connectors are secure and away from moving parts before powering on the bike.
- Controls & Lighting Visibility: Confirm display powers on without error codes. Test throttle snap-back, low-level pedal assist response, headlights (high/low beam), brake lights, turn signals, daytime running lights, and horn.
- Rider, Cargo & Route Safety: Check helmet fit, riding gear, and loose clothing. Ensure cargo is balanced and secured. Verify your planned riding area is clear of hazards and permitted for performance power bikes.
One-Minute "Go / No-Go" Safety Table
| Inspection Area | PASS (Safe to Ride) | STOP (Do Not Ride) |
|---|---|---|
| Brakes | Firm lever feel, smooth stopping, working motor cut-offs. | Spongy/weak levers, fluid leaks, fading power, rotor damage, failed cut-off switch. |
| Throttle | Smooth return, no binding or movement when turning bars. | Sticks, binds, activates unexpectedly, or pulls with cable movement. |
| Tires & Wheels | Correct PSI, seated beads, true rims, firm spokes. | Flat, incorrect PSI, cut/bulging rubber, wheel wobble, loose or broken spokes. |
| Batteries | Cool, dry, securely locked, undamaged casings. | Hot, wet, swollen, leaking, loose mounting, odor, display error codes. |
| Steering & Frame | Zero looseness, smooth turning, intact welds. | Headset play, clicking sounds, shifting stem clamps, bent frame parts, cracked welds. |
| Lights & Horn | Headlight, tail light, signals, and horn functional. | Non-working safety lights, damaged indicators, exposed harness wiring. |
After Every Ride Checklist
- Park, power off the display system, and remove the key.
- Inspect battery packs, motor hubs, brake calipers, and tires for unusual heat, smells, debris, or damage.
- Check for newly loose fasteners, spoke tension changes, tire cuts, rotor heat discoloration, or cable friction.
- Allow motor and battery components to cool completely before cleaning, covering, storing, or charging.
- Log any crash, impact, water exposure, warning code, reduced braking, or sudden range reduction.
CRITICAL WARNING: Do not charge the battery packs immediately after a crash, submersion event, battery error code, or unexplained electrical fault. Contact technical support first.
If a Post-Ride Inspection Identifies an Issue
- Lock Out Vehicle: Mark the bike out of service and keep keys away from other riders.
- Isolate Electrical System: Do not attempt to charge any battery involved in an impact, severe water exposure, swelling, or thermal event.
- Document Conditions: Take photos of the complete bike and the specific affected area prior to cleaning, adjusting, or disassembling.
- Log System Details: Record the date, mileage, error codes, riding conditions, payload weight, and any unusual sounds or smells.
- Contact Support: Reach out to Ariel Rider support and retain all original parts, packaging, and diagnostic notes for technician review.
