The Grizzly 72V is a high-performance bike engineered for speed and power. Proper care, routine inspections, and adherence to maintenance protocols are essential for preserving vehicle control, safety, and warranty coverage.

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICE FACTOR: Riding in dust, mud, water, extreme heat, cold, steep terrain, heavy cargo, high speeds, or frequent hard braking requires more frequent inspections and shortened maintenance intervals.

Owner Tasks vs. Technician Tasks

To ensure safety, service responsibilities are divided based on component complexity:

  • Owner Maintenance Tasks: Limited strictly to visual inspections, basic frame cleaning, tire inflation, external chain lubrication, and maintaining ride log records.
  • Qualified Technician Tasks: Hydraulic brake bleeding/repairs, wheel truing, suspension tuning, headset/bottom bracket overhauls, controller/display replacements, electrical harness repairs, firmware updates, and structural frame service.
CRITICAL RESTRICTION: Never open or disassemble a battery pack, charger, motor housing, controller, display unit, camera, or sealed connector. Never bypass a brake cut-off switch, fuse, BMS circuit, or safety lock.

Five-Point Pre-Maintenance Checklist

Ask these five questions before performing any DIY maintenance task:

  4. Keep water and cleaning agents away from charge ports, battery terminals, wiring connectors, display openings, controller housings, and brake rotors/pads.
  5. NEVER pressure wash or submerge any part of the bike.
  6. Thoroughly dry all frame sections and contacts before storing or charging.
  7. Perform a complete pre-ride inspection after every cleaning session.

Component Inspection Guidelines

Drivetrain & Chain Maintenance

Wipe the chain clean and inspect for stiff links, rust, stretched links, excess slack, or grinding noises. Apply bicycle chain lubricant approved for your local environment, then wipe away excess lube. Keep lubricant completely away from brake rotors, brake pads, tires, and battery contacts. Discontinue riding if you notice bent chainring teeth, loose crank arms, or freewheel slipping.

Brake System Safety

Inspect brake lever feel, hydraulic hoses, fittings, calipers, rotors, and motor cut-off functionality. Ensure replacement pads and rotors meet original factory specifications. Stop riding immediately if:

  • A brake lever feels soft/spongy or touches the handlebar grip.
  • Hydraulic fluid weeps or leaks from any hose, fitting, or caliper seal.
  • Braking power fades, pulses, pulls to one side, or squeals severely.
  • Brake rotors are warped, cracked, discolored, or contaminated with oil.
  • Either brake lever fails to disengage motor power automatically.

Tires, Rims & Wheels

The Grizzly 72V uses 20 x 4.5" tires mounted on 36-spoke rims. Always use replacement tires, inner tubes, rims, and spokes rated specifically for the Grizzly 72V load capacity and speed limits. Stop riding if you discover sidewall cuts, tire bulges, bead separation, bent rims, loose/broken spokes, or wheel wobble.

Suspension & Steering Systems

Keep upper fork stanchions and rear shock shafts clean and free of grime. Inspect fork seals, linkage pivot bolts, headset bearings, and handlebar clamps. Cease riding if you encounter oil leakage around seals, suspension binding, knocking noises, or play in the headset.

Batteries, Rails & Electrical Wiring

Keep electrical contacts clean, dry, and protected. Regularly inspect battery locking rails, fuses, harness insulation, and connector plugs. Never use metal tools near battery terminals or apply conductive grease. Stop using the bike if you identify corrosion, melted plastic, loose terminal pins, swollen battery casings, or exposed wires.


Approved Parts & Accessories

Use only accessories and replacement components specifically designated for the Grizzly 72V. Do not assume that Grizzly 52V parts (batteries, chargers, controllers, displays, racks, or fenders) are compatible. Any third-party accessory that alters rider position, weight distribution, braking performance, lighting visibility, or frame clearance requires written model-specific authorization.
