How Do I Adjust my Motor Cut Off sensors? (!)Updated 12 hours ago
Things you will need:
2mm Hex Wrench
7mm Open-end Wrench
Remember to always Power cycle your bike whenever you are doing adjustments.
You can view this tutorial on how to power cycle your bike:
When you see that your throttle and PAS won't engage, or your motor doesn't seem to work the first place to check is the motor cut-off sensors.
On the X-Class and Grizzly, you can see if the motor cut-off is engaged by checking to see if there is a circle with an exclamation mark (!) in the center showing on the display with the Kepler there is nothing on the display, however, the motor will not engage with either the throttle or the PAS then adjusting motor cut-off sensors on your bike can be a delicate process, and you will need to prioritize safety when following the directions below.
Here's how you can proceed:
Turn off the bike: Locate the power button, usually on the display or battery. Press and hold it until the display turns off completely and any lights are extinguished.
Disconnect the battery: Find the latch or lock mechanism and carefully detach the battery.
Safety first: Ensure your bike is turned off and unplugged. Park it on a stable surface and engage the brakes for added security.
Locate the Brake Sensor: The brake sensor is situated near the brake lever on your bike where the smaller cable inserts into the brake handle.
Identify the Adjustment Screw: Look for an adjustment screw on the brake sensor. This screw is used to fine-tune the sensitivity of the sensor.
Loosen or Tighten the Screw: To adjust the motor cutoff, you can either loosen or tighten the screw. The sensor is pressure-activated, when pressure is detected, it cuts power to the motor.
Here's how to adjust:Loosening the Screw: Turn the screw counterclockwise to decrease the sensitivity of the sensor. This means the motor will cut off later when you apply the brakes.
Tightening the Screw: Turn the screw clockwise to increase the sensitivity of the sensor. This will make the motor cut off sooner when you apply the brakes.
Test Your Adjustment: After adjusting, take a short test ride to ensure that the motor cutoff now operates as desired. If it's not quite right, you can fine-tune the screw until you resolve the motor cut-off point.
