Kepler 52V - 2026: Battery Safety & Charging GuideUpdated 14 days ago
Properly maintaining your e-bike battery is the best way to ensure maximum cell longevity, optimal range, and a safe riding experience.
1. Safe Charging Practices
- Environment: Always charge in a dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight, extreme heat, or flammable materials.
- Temperature Range: Only charge when the battery and surrounding ambient environment are between 50°F and 77°F (10°C to 25°C).
- Monitoring: Never leave batteries charging unattended or overnight. Disconnect the charger promptly once the indicator light turns green to avoid overcharging.
- Equipment: Use only the official Ariel Rider charger supplied with your e-bike. Set the charger on a hard, flat surface with the indicator light facing up to allow adequate air cooling.
2. Long-Term Battery Care
- Storage Level: If storing your bike or battery unused for an extended period, store it at approximately 50% to 70% charge. Check and top off the charge back to this range every 3 months.
- Depth of Discharge: Avoid fully draining your battery to 0%. Recharging before the battery drops below 20% capacity prevents unnecessary stress on the lithium cells.
- Regular Usage: Lithium-ion batteries stay healthiest with consistent use. Storing a battery completely dormant for long periods accelerates capacity degradation.
CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: Lithium-ion batteries can fail or catch fire if damaged, submerged, or exposed to excessive heat. Never attempt to charge or use a battery that has been submerged in water or dropped.
3. Safety Precautions & Hazard Prevention
- Abnormal Behavior: If your battery emits an unusual odor, feels excessively hot to the touch, leaks, or displays physical swelling, cease usage immediately, disconnect it from power, and contact Ariel Rider support.
- No Tampering: Never open, pierce, or attempt to disassemble the battery enclosure. Modifying internal battery components voids your warranty and poses a serious risk of fire or electrical shock.
