Kepler Dual Battery: Post-Assembly Safety CheckUpdated 2 days ago

After assembling your new Ariel Rider Kepler Dual Battery, you must perform this thorough functional test to ensure every component is correctly installed and operating safely.

  1.  Critical Latches and Fasteners

    1. Torque Check: Confirm all screws, bolts, and fasteners are tightened to their specific torque values. Pay extra attention to the handlebars, wheels, and pedals.

    2. Quick Releases: Ensure all latches, levers, and quick-release mechanisms (like those on the wheels or seat post) are properly secured and undamaged.

    3. Visible Gaps: Verify the frame and all parts are securely connected with no visible gaps or loose fittings.

  2.  Steering and Control

    1. Alignment: Ensure the handlebars are perfectly aligned with the front wheel and securely tightened.

    2. Grip Security: Check that handlebar grips are firmly attached and do not rotate when pulled.

    3. Cable Clearance: Turn the handlebars fully to the left and right; check that no cables are being pulled, pinched, or stretched.

  3.  Braking & Motor Cut-off

    1. Responsiveness: Squeeze the brake levers to ensure they feel firm. The levers should not touch the handlebars when fully engaged.

    2. Contact: Verify that brake pads make even contact with the rotors and do not rub when the brakes are released.

    3. Safety Cut-off: While walking the bike, apply the brakes to confirm the motor cut-off feature is active—the motor should stop immediately upon braking.

  4.  Drivetrain and Pedals

    1. Pedal Orientation: Confirm pedals are on the correct side (marked "L" for left and "R" for right) and are threaded securely into the crank arms.

    2. Rotation: Rotate the pedals and crankset manually to ensure smooth operation without unusual noises or excessive resistance.

  5.  Final Electrical Check

    1. Battery Locks: Check that the batteries are fully seated and locked into the frame with the key removed.

    2. Display and Lights: Power on the bike and verify the display lights up. Test the headlight, taillight, and brake lights.

  6. The First Test Ride

    1. Controlled Environment: Perform your first ride in a slow, safe, and controlled area.

    2. Listen and Feel: Check the overall handling and motor responsiveness. Listen for any unusual sounds and feel for instability.

WARNING: If you identify any issues during this check, stop riding immediately. Ariel Rider recommends that initial assembly and maintenance be performed by a reputable ebike mechanic.
