My brake pads are closedUpdated 2 months ago
If you’re unable to place the rotor inside the brake pads during assembly, it’s likely because pressure was applied to the brake lever without the rotor or pad spacer installed. This can cause the brake pads to shift and make installation tricky.
Why This Happens:
- The brakes on Ariel Rider bikes are self-adjusting, meaning they compensate for pad wear by allowing the pistons to stay compressed.
- When the pistons are compressed without a spacer or rotor, the brake pads may accidentally contact each other, which can prevent the wheel from being installed.
How to Fix It:
- Insert a flat tool (such as a screwdriver or similar object) between the brake pads.
- Gently pry the pads apart to create space between them.
- Once the pads are separated, you should be able to insert the rotor and install the wheel as usual.
