The display unit reads the current input from the controller and converts it to MPH shown on the display.
When set to a specific wheel size (e.g., 26"), the unit calculates speed based on that diameter. However, since the tires that come on the Kepler are 4" thick, this can lead to an inaccurate speed reading, causing the displayed speed to appear lower than the actual speed.
For more accurate speed measurement, setting the wheel size to 27.5" typically provides a better reading when tires are fully inflated
