Grizzly 72v PPB - Error code E03Updated 6 days ago
Error code E03 indicates a pedal assist communication fault, meaning the cadence or torque sensor is not producing the expected signal to the controller.
CRITICAL WARNING: Always power cycle—Dissipate Controller Energy (DCE)—your motorized bike before disconnecting or reconnecting any electrical components. On dual-battery models, both batteries must be removed to perform a proper DCE. Step-by-step guidance is available in our Power Cycle (DCE) Guide.
Troubleshooting Steps for Error E03
- Inspect Sensor at Crank: Examine the cadence or torque sensor located near the bottom bracket and crank arm area. Check for any physical damage, debris buildup, or loose mounting hardware.
- Power Cycle (DCE - Both Batteries): Turn off the display, remove both batteries from the frame, and perform a full DCE power cycle to dissipate residual controller power and clear error memory. Leave both batteries off for step 3.
- Inspect Wiring & Connectors: Trace the sensor wiring from the bottom bracket up to its quick-disconnect plug. Unplug the connector, check for bent or damaged internal pins, clean out any moisture or debris, and firmly reconnect it ensuring alignment arrows match up.
- Reinstall Batteries & Test: Reinstall both batteries, power on the bike display, and rotate the pedals to verify if Error E03 clears and pedal assist engages normally.
