How to Power Cycle, DCE, your bikeUpdated 15 days ago

Before disconnecting or reconnecting any electrical components, it is imperative to first power cycle your Ariel Rider electric motorized bike. This process dissipates stored controller energy and is referred to as Dissipate Controller Energy (DCE).

Watch the video below or follow the step-by-step written instructions.

CRITICAL WARNING: This is not just a safety precaution; component damage from residual power is a common occurrence when plugging or unplugging connectors—even when the display is turned off. Always perform DCE before working on electrical connections to prevent costly component failure.

Step-by-Step DCE Instructions

  1. Power Off Display: Turn off your bike using the display keypad power button.
  2. Power Off Battery: If your battery is equipped with an integrated power switch (e.g., X-Class and Grizzly models), switch the battery off.
  3. Remove Battery: Remove the battery pack (or both battery packs on dual-battery models) completely from the bike.
  4. Drain Residual Energy:Press and hold the display power button for 5 to 10 seconds.
    • Note: You may see the screen briefly flash on and then turn off as the stored energy drains.
