Grizzly 72v PPB - Error Code E18Updated a day ago

Error code E18 indicates that the internal Battery Management System (BMS) temperature has exceeded its safe operating threshold. This thermal protection mode triggers during high-load riding (such as long climbs or heavy throttle use in hot weather) to protect the battery cells.

CRITICAL WARNING: Always power cycle—Dissipate Controller Energy (DCE)—your motorized bike before disconnecting or reconnecting any electrical components. On dual-battery models, both batteries must be removed to perform a proper DCE. Step-by-step guidance is available in our Power Cycle (DCE) Guide.

Troubleshooting Steps for Error E18

  1. Stop Riding & Park in the Shade: Stop riding immediately, pull over safely, and park your electric motorized bike in a cool, shaded area out of direct sunlight.
  2. Power Cycle (DCE - Both Batteries): Turn off the bike, remove both batteries from the frame, and perform a full DCE power cycle to dissipate residual controller power and reset system monitoring. Leave both batteries off for step 3.
  3. Allow BMS to Cool: Let the bike and battery packs rest stationary for a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes to allow the internal BMS and cell temperatures to cool down to safe levels.
  4. Reinstall & Resume at Reduced Throttle: Reinstall both batteries, power on the display to verify Error E18 has cleared, and resume riding using reduced throttle and increased pedal assistance.
