Grizzly 72v PPB - Error Code E21Updated a day ago
Error code E21 indicates that your down tube battery has exceeded its safe operating temperature threshold. This protection mechanism triggers during heavy battery use (such as sustained high speeds, steep climbs, or riding in direct sun) to protect internal battery cells.
CRITICAL WARNING: Always power cycle—Dissipate Controller Energy (DCE)—your motorized bike before disconnecting or reconnecting any electrical components. On dual-battery models, both batteries must be removed to perform a proper DCE. Step-by-step guidance is available in our Power Cycle (DCE) Guide.
Troubleshooting Steps for Error E21
- Stop Riding & Park in the Shade: Stop riding immediately, pull over safely, and park your motorized bike in a cool, shaded area out of direct sunlight.
- Improve Airflow: Raise the seat or lift any accessories directly above the down tube battery frame area to promote air circulation around the battery case.
- Power Cycle (DCE - Both Batteries): Turn off the bike, remove both batteries, and perform a full DCE power cycle to clear residual power from the controller. Leave both batteries off for step 4.
- Allow Battery to Cool: Let the down tube battery rest stationary until its internal temperature drops below 45°C (113°F). This typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on ambient conditions.
- Reinstall & Test: Reinstall both batteries, power on the bike, and verify if Error E21 has cleared from the display.
