Grizzly 72v PPB - Error Code E22Updated a day ago

Error code E22 indicates that your lower battery has exceeded its safe operating temperature threshold. This thermal protection mode triggers during heavy power demands (such as high-speed cruising, steep climbs, or hot weather riding) to protect internal battery cells.

CRITICAL WARNING: Always power cycle—Dissipate Controller Energy (DCE)—your motorized bike before disconnecting or reconnecting any electrical components. On dual-battery models, both batteries must be removed to perform a proper DCE. Step-by-step guidance is available in our Power Cycle (DCE) Guide.

Troubleshooting Steps for Error E22

  1. Stop Riding & Park in the Shade: Stop riding immediately, pull over safely, and park your motorized bike in a cool, shaded area out of direct sunlight.
  2. Power Cycle (DCE - Both Batteries): Turn off the bike, remove both batteries from the frame, and perform a full DCE power cycle to dissipate residual power from the controller. Leave both batteries off for step 3.
  3. Allow Battery to Cool: Let the lower battery rest stationary until its internal temperature drops below 45°C (113°F). This typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on ambient weather conditions.
  4. Reinstall & Test: Reinstall both batteries securely, power on the bike, and verify if Error E22 clears from the display.
