Grizzly 72v PPB - Error Code E23Updated 2 days ago

Error code E23 indicates that an over-voltage condition has been detected from the charger, meaning the charging input voltage exceeds safe operating limits.

DANGER / IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED: Unplug the charger immediately. Connecting an incorrect or faulty charger can damage your battery cells and create a potential safety hazard.
CRITICAL WARNING: Always power cycle—Dissipate Controller Energy (DCE)—your motorized bike before disconnecting or reconnecting any electrical components. On dual-battery models, both batteries must be removed to perform a proper DCE. Step-by-step guidance is available in our Power Cycle (DCE) Guide.

Troubleshooting Steps for Error E23

  1. Unplug the Charger Immediately: Disconnect the charger from the wall outlet and the battery charge port right away.
  2. Verify Charger Label: Inspect the label on the charger body. Ensure it explicitly reads "72V 5A Ariel Rider OEM" (or matches the specific voltage rating required for your exact bike model). Using third-party or incorrect voltage chargers will trigger this protection error.
  3. Power Cycle (DCE - Both Batteries): Turn off the bike, remove both batteries from the frame, and perform a full DCE power cycle to clear residual power from the system. Leave both batteries off for step 4.
  4. Inspect Charger & Port: Inspect the charger plug and battery charging port for bent pins, burns, or debris before plugging anything back in.
  5. Reconnect & Retest: Reinstall both batteries, plug in the verified OEM charger, and test if Error E23 clears.
