How Do I Remove The Rear WheelUpdated 2 months ago

Changing the rear wheel on your Ariel Rider bike is an important part of bike maintenance. Follow the steps below to safely remove your rear wheel.

Step 1: Prepare for the Task

  • Take reference photos: Before starting, take multiple photos from different angles on both sides of the rear wheel. This will help you remember the bolt and washer locations, as well as the cable routing and connections.
  • Remove the battery: Take the battery out of the bike, then power-cycle the bike.

Step 2: Make the Rear Wheel Accessible

  • Flip the bike over: Most riders find it easiest to flip the bike over, but you can also use a bike lift to support the rear wheel off the ground.
  • Remove handlebar components: If flipping the bike over, remove any handlebar components that may prevent the handlebars from resting firmly on the ground. We recommend using handlebar jacks to elevate the handlebars.

Step 3: Disconnect Cables and Remove the Wheel

  • Disconnect the motor cable: Unplug the motor cable and remove any zip ties holding the cable to the bike’s frame.
  • Remove the axle nuts: Use the appropriate tools to remove the axle nuts.
  • Disengage the chain: Carefully remove the chain from the sprocket. You may need to pull the derailleur back to provide extra clearance. Once the chain is clear, you can lift the rear wheel off the frame.

Step 4: Reassemble or Replace the Rear Wheel

Once the wheel is removed, you can replace it with a new one or perform any necessary maintenance.

For your safety, we recommend using a reputable bike technician for any maintenance tasks you're unsure about.
