How to Fix Noisy Brakes
If you have already properly bedded in your brakes but are still experiencing excess noise or squealing, follow these troubleshooting steps to identify and resolve the issue.
1. Check Brake Alignment & Lever Setup
Ensure your brake calipers are properly aligned with the rotor and that your lever reach is comfortably set.

2. Inspect for Oil Contamination
Noisy brakes are often caused by oil or grease contamination on the brake rotor or pads.
- If your rotor is contaminated, you will need to clean it thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol.
- If oil reaches your brake pads, they will absorb it and must be replaced with new pads. Review our Rear Wheel Removal Guide to safely access and service your rear brake assembly.
