X‑Class 60V: My brakes rub on the caliperUpdated a day ago

Brake Rub

  • This happens when the caliper needs to be adjusted. What we want to check is the angle of the brake caliper. To check this observe the brake caliper and rotor from directly above. The caliper and the rotor should be parallel. If the caliper is angled against the rotor then the next step will be to adjust the caliper.

    Adjust the Caliper

    1. It will be helpful to have someone assist you with this.
    2. Loosen the two bolts that mount the caliper to the caliper mount, do not remove them.
    3. Squeeze the brake lever to center the caliper over the rotor.(having a partner do this will help) .
    4. While holding onto the caliper with one hand tighten down the bolts, if you feel the caliper start to move back the screw out just a 10th of a turn and squeeze the brake lever one more time, then tighten bolts down. Repeat this step until the caliper is secured in place and straight.
