MUDD PPB - Waking the BatteriesUpdated 3 hours ago
The following instructions guide you through waking up your battery packs after delivery or extended storage, preparing your dual-battery electric motorized bike for operation.
CRITICAL WARNING: Always power cycle—Dissipate Controller Energy (DCE)—your electric motorized bike before removing or installing electrical components. On dual-battery models, both batteries must be removed to perform a proper DCE. Step-by-step guidance is available in our Power Cycle (DCE) Guide.
Battery Wake-Up Procedure
- Remove Both Batteries:
Remove both batteries from the vehicle using the complete battery-removal procedure.
- Wake the First Battery:
On the first battery, hold the charge-level indicator button for 5 seconds until the lights illuminate one by one from red through the last green light.
- Wake the Second Battery:
Repeat the 5-second button press on the other battery. If either fails to respond normally, stop and contact Ariel Rider. (Note: Use this specific five-second MUDD wake sequence. Do not substitute another model's wake timing. Automatic sleep occurs after about 20 days without use; it does not prevent gradual charge loss.)
- Turn Batteries Off Before Reinstalling:
Hold each battery's charge-level indicator button for 3 seconds, until all its lights turn off. Do this for both batteries before reinstalling them. Turning off the display does not switch off the batteries.
- Reinstall & Lock Batteries:
After installation, check that each battery is fully in its mount and locked in place, then remove the keys before starting the bike. (Note: A dark indicator does not prove a battery is empty or safe to open.)
